Life`s been hectic with my recent move so I have some catching up to do.  I currently have 3 species going and they are doing swimmingly despite a bit of panic on getting food for them all.

First are the Violins who are quickly becoming a favorite species with their adorable continuous wiggle dancing. They were the larges nymphs i have had the pleasure to hatch so far and instantly so cool looking. I had 15 hatch out of the ooth but lost quite a few due to very low humidity (despite me misting the HECK out of everything constantly) while I waited for my bug gear to arrive with the rest of my boxes of stuff. I have 9 left and have enjoyed watching them grow to L4 and can`t wait to see them as beautiful adults!

I also love the difference in color they are starting to develop. Half of them look like they are dressed for Halloween and the other half for spring.

Second I had 6 ghost mantises hatch out (NOT! Pseudocreoboter ocellata as I foolishly thought!), oddly only half of the ooth hatched but the ones that did are doing wonderfully as L2s. I do know their strange "invisible" feets amuse me so.

Last I somehow ended up with 4 miomantis ooths which allotted to somewhere around 300 nymphs as they ALL hatched. Unfortunately with my lack of food after the move the poor dears were left to their tiny hunger games for quite some time. I have 17 or so left now and they are between L2 and L4 (all over the place!). I am so happy to have a few greens in my brood this time as all of my previous Mios were all tan.

You got a nice little herd going! Some pretty little guys. Kinda confused about the P. Ocellata. Mine look like spinys. Yours look exactly like ghosts... you sure the ooth wasn’t a ghost ooth? Love the mios too. Looking to get some of those guys.

Beautiful pictures!  Violins are slowly creeping up higher in my "to try" list of species thanks to everyone's cool pictures.  :p

OMG you are RIGHT! I am a silly silly girl. So I ordered a violin, ghost and flower ooth all at the same time. Having ordered a few ghost ooths previously that never hatched I was convinced that the darker of the two similar ooths had to be the ghost ooth and the lighter was the flower. Guess it was the other way around as them being ghosts makes way more sense! I was wondering why in the world they were not showing any color change at L2 and well that would explain it. So funny how you can decide something and it just sticks.

I`m going to go laugh at myself for a while now....

They are very interesting mantises to be sure. Bit harder to keep due to the high heat and humidity but its nothing a simple setup with a cheap heat lamp and humidifier can`t handle.

Haha well glad you figured it out. I was so confused when I first read it lol. Congrats on hatching a ghost ooth though. I’ve heard it can be quite the challenge.

Thank you for pointing that out! I was starting to get very confused about it too hehe. This was my 3rd try at hatching a ghost ooth so heck yeah! 3rd times the charm and all that!
