So I’ve got some ghosts from graceface and some more ghosts in green and tan from panterrapets on the way.....

I got a line on some gongys. It’s easy for me to keep a hot and dry environment and I think these are super cool looking. I’ve read a few caresheets and am thinking I’m gonna get a few when they hit L3/L4.

I tend to build my invert enclosures/Vivariums by tipping a 10 gal on its end and building a screen or acrylic door depending on what humidity I’m going for.

Many tips/ideas would be great!

Gongys cannot grip smooth surfaces (plastic, glass, etc.) so you need to have mesh on most or all sides to avoid mismolt (mesh cages are best) they love high heat and a daily light misting. They are awesome pets! Where are you getting them from?

I found a guy on Facebook that just had a 3 ooths hatch. I like doing custom viv builds so there will be more than enough places for them to hang from along the ceiling and sides. I don’t like the look of mesh enclosures.

That said,  if mesh is best I’ll have to do that.

You either need mesh or lots of grippy branches, but mesh is best!

Ok.... I’ll get a few and try out both. i tend to put coco fiber or some expanding foam on the sides for texture.

I loved LOVED my gongys and will raise them again for sure.

A few notes:

1. As everyone already said they can't grip smooth surfaces. Besides mesh I also found just plain box cardboard to be an acceptable climbing/molting material in a pinch. I would still recommend mesh like everyone else.

2. Mine at least were DIVAS! It was a major hassle to get them to eat anything that was not a fly. I would spend 30 minutes coxing one gongy to eat a mealworm by shoving the gooey bits into their stubborn faces before they finally grabbed it and realized it was delicious. 2 of mine refused flat out to eat anything but the larger fruit flies even as adults unless I could catch them proper flies or moths. So while you can manage to feed them if you don´t have flies I found it very frustrating to nearly impossible.

3. While they like it dry I still found it imperative that their humidity was kept up to prevent mismolts. Iceland is crazy dry and I lost like half of my hatch to mismolts until I managed to get their humidity stable. I think I kept my humidity higher then the caresheet recommends (60%) but that may have just been me over compensating and it was fine due to how good the airflow was in my cages.

3. They are hilarious little dancey wiggle pants. I dubbed mine "The wiggle buddies". They definitely had the best dance moves of all the species I have kept so far and it never ceased to amuse me.

#2 YES. ABSOLUTELY.

My pair are freaking me out. IMPOSSIBLE to hand feed.
Right!? Try not to stress about it too much. Regardless of age try giving them the big fruit flies. My oldest lived for over a year and survived on fruit flies for a good portion of that as I had access to absolutely nothing else that had wings. Even though its pretty much like eating M&Ms for them mine at least were totally fine with eating an unreasonable amount of FFs to sustain themselves.

Exactly. My pair is i6. Other than one lesser wax moth each, they've had only hydei. Well, I  think my male took a small BSF larva one time.

Their bellies aren't flat.

😎👍
