Hello! I only have two different species of mantids right now, I have three ghosts and a jeweled flower mantis. I don't use any special heating for them, and the temperature in the room they are in is usually at the lowest 70 degrees. Unfortunately yesterday one of my housemates turned off the heat in the middle of the day because it was getting hot, but forgot to turn it back on before they went to bed. So I woke up at 5:30am and it was 62 degrees in the room! I turned on the heat immediately, and the mantises seem okay. Is there anything I should look out for or should they be okay? Thank you!

In my experience, both of these species can tolerate 65° (preferably 68°) at night, but it's a good idea to provide a temp of at least 70°, preferably a few degrees higher during the day, to help them digest food. I've bred several batches of both of these species without any issues.

An added benefit of keeping them on the cold side is they will typically have longer lifespans due to slower metabolism. :)

Okay great thanks, so you said they can tolerate 65, since it got down to 62 for a few hours should I be worried?
