Recently I went on vacation, which I thought I'd never get to do ever since I started raising mantids two years ago. I couldn't stay mantis-less for a week so I brought along my little ghost girl. To the Southwest I went! (I spent a good part of my childhood there and even though I've been living on the East Coast for so long, I still do not like it here. But I digress. Anyways, I went on a nice trip and one of the parks I visited was Arches National Park located in Utah. I loved the hike to the Delicate Arch -- that iconic arch you see in postcards -- and my ghost was the first mantis to pose in front of it.
Unfortunately there was no way I could keep both the mantis and the Arch in focus, so the background's blurry.
On a side note, I did try my hardest to find any native mantises but had no such luck.
