So, Sheila, My Slurm Queen of Idolos - that 2 legged, bed-ridden "Feed Me By Hand" little brat of a bug, has shuffled this mortal coil, and left me with only memories and photographs. If you'd indulge me for a few moments, I'd like to share a few of both...

09/14/2010 - Final Molt

10/02/2010 - Mating

She will be missed.

It's sad when one you really like kick's the bucket!!! (sorry Mark)

I also had a female Idolo molting from one leg 3 weeks ago as I watched in fear of the worst.

Then almost done shedding(98%)she fell 3 inches to my soft moistened moss covered floor.

So I rushed in quickly and picked her up by the molted skin, her front leg and abdomen still half in the old skin.

Then proceeded to hold her that way by hand for over a hour till she finally slipped out, my arm was shaking a little by the time she was free from trying to hold her as still as I could.

and now she is doing fantastic, but she still has some old skin on half of one leg that moves fine but she won't use it to walk or hang on.

So now she is sub-adult and three day's later my only other Idolo molted to sub-adult and reveled that he is a male.

Is that some blind luck or what? well mixed with some dedication and bug love.

I feel your pain! She was a sweetie, wasn't she? an a stinker to boot! as u noted, she could feed herself if she wanted to, but being queen, she made us do it. Her mate is still doing good. ps, I am not telling him she is gone;)

ps, yes she did lay ooth and it was in october, still hoping it will hatch!

I was riveted to the seat during that story - these guys are SO dramatic!

Glad to hear the soft bottom helped. I'm taking notes....

Oh, the laughs we had! I'd give her a fly, walk away and "FLING" she'd throw it right out of the cage. And she'd look right at me, too. Like it was my fault "Well...!?! Aren't you going to chew it for me...?!?". She acted like she just couldn't move another muscle... "ooooohhh.... this is the end....". Then I'd give her a bee and she'd rip it to shreds!

(wipes tear of laghter) Ah, she WILL be missed...

Ha, ha! My staff ask me "Where's Sheila...?" and I say, "Oh, she's... you know.. chillin..."

Then they all ask me, "Are you OK,,,"

Hillarious! They are SO sentimental.

Aw, but that's how I am! I shed a few tears when my first mantis died. I wouldn't even be on this site if it wasn't for her.
