I have been curious which of the mantis species/type are the strongest/toughest overall mantis. A mantis of great strength and hardiness. A mantis that can conquer many of insects large and small. I have searched for this topic here and other websites and have made a poll of the most noted strong/tough mantis species. There are a few species in the poll which are specific due to the information I collected.

Any thoughts, comments, Top 5 or additional information on these or other strong/tough species please post below.

Thank You,

MantisSFB

cheerist! Shoulda read the comments before voting! I voted wrong.
Rhombodera has the vote?I am new in regards to Mantis identification. In that Japanese video, was that a Rhombodera or another species. I have yet to see one that color. Which is not saying much.

*researched above question regarding mantis ID* The video looks to have featured a Dead Leaf Mantis. That speaks volumes to me regarding mantis overall. Especially as the Dead Leaf Mantis were not mentioned when I did some research via forums/web.

I personally find videos like that to be disturbing.
You know I wasn't positive how that video would go over. I am glad you said something. I'm going to remove the video. Apologies to those whom may have been offended.

Rhombo is very aggressive, they are great with people though. I'd say sphodro are more attack prone to people especially blue flash, but i think if two hungry adult females of rhombo and sphodro were dropped next to each other rhombo would more than likely take it, even with larger mantids like plistospilota and tenodera, i still believe rhombo will attack fatally.

Seems like Rhombodera is so far the general consensus regarding thread subject. Thank you for posting your thoughts.

This afternoon I just witnessed the horrifying ferocity of my female Rhombodera. She is truly a murderess. She made me regret all the times I had called her "cute." :(
