Ordered a mantis like a week ago and it still hasn't shipped. ?

Anyone else a bit annoyed by the weather? lol

To keep on track: Mantis has really bulgy wing things, think he's about to molt?

I’ve been waiting almost a month for the temps to cool to order a mantis. Still waiting! It’s definitely very frustrating.

And yes. It’s likely he’s about to molt. Good luck!

In Vegas as well. I haven't been ordering any inverts (even feeders) since early June because of the heat, and I know I'm going to miss out on some species I really want because of it since we don't cool down until mid-late September and all. The required overnight shipping costs kill me, and having to have them hold packages at the post office to avoid death due to the heat on the trucks is just severely annoying.

My last mantis arrived sometime in early june, I recall that as well. How long do you think we'll have to wait?

I'm a bit pessimistic, but I'd say another 6 weeks or so before we start getting down to what the eastern or northern US considers "hot."

Like I said, I'm reasonably comfortable shipping now, but it has to be an overnight shipment(which adds another $27+ onto any order), and it has to be held at the post office. My invert budget is so tight already that I don't like wasting so much of it on shipping. Maybe if I could save up to do larger orders to bundle shipping, but typically for me I have to get it when I can get it, so to speak.

With as hot is it where I am right now I'm not even sure I would trust overnight with an ice pack. I usually plan on not being able to order anything for at least half of each year.

Here is the heat finally over (Netherlands). I still don't know if I lost 6 of my mantids in one week because of the heat of or not. But is it still too dry. The temperatures looks nice for next week. But don't know when to order new mantids or not.
