I had a mantis mismolt but its still alive though its legs are pretty messed up. It can't really move around too well though suprisingly it can still hang from the top of the enclosure. Unfortunately I did not move it to a larger enclosure in time before it molted (this was my last mantid I needed to make a bigger house for). So any thoughts on if I should keep this one around or would it be better to put it in the freezer? I don't want the poor thing to suffer :(

I've included a video to give a better visual idea of the damage:

hes gonna be fine aslong he can hang upside down then it should be fine, im not any expert but he might repair his own leg if he just recently molted.

Don't freeze, he's perfectly fine. He can molt again even without both of his backlegs, may need some help catching food though but Chinese nymphs are very aggressive hunters to begin with so I doubt he/she would even need help with that. Put him in a smaller enclosure so he can get back up to the top easily if he does lose foothold, it will also be easier for him to catch prey.

I can't see it hanging right to shed again, you'll have to see it hang and eat to judge though,if not it will just mismolt again when the time comes, sorry but thats the reality,I'd only not freeze this IF it was already an adult and was able to eat,but its got some twisted legs that will probably never stick enough for it to support its body

I agree. I would freeze it or feed it to another mantid or tarantula.

I would say don't kill it because I think it can still hang upside down. I see one of its back legs looks normal too so I am pretty sure it has a chance of having a successful molt the next time it molts.
