One of my unmated ghosts just laid an ooth on the top of her enclosure. She has been an adult for about 2 months and never been mated. Is this normal/ok?

Thanks - I'm pretty new to this whole breeding thing. I didn't know that they would lay ooths without mating. I assume there's no chance of it hatching...

Can I still breed her at this point and get fertile ooths?

Yes, regardless of being mated or not they will lay infertile ooths after a while, it can't hatch unless it is a parthogenic species. It is not too late to mate her. If you do all the ooths laid afterwards will be fertile.

Thanks for the help! She and her future "boyfriend" are currently chowing down so they'll be nice and full for their "date" tomorrow.

Don't be fooled. Some people say a well fed female won't eat the male but it simply is not true.
