Very Dark Religiosa

It's not uncommon to find very dark brown colored male Mantis Religiosa. They are one of the prettiest, in my opinion. But during all these years I never found a female that could match the same dark brown color, until this year.

I've never seen one that colour, here we only seem to have light green and tan religiosa's

Yes, the green face makes her a lot more unique. Though not very noticeable in these pics, the joints of her fore arms also have a speckle of green.

This years summer was really hot. The hottest in years and the high temperatures lasted for way longer. Maybe that contributed to giving a darker color to some of the mantids. In my book though, this color is a rare find.

Here's another pic of her abdomen with an interesting color pattern. Also shows her wings a little messed up. It's odd because she developed well both of her left wings but not the right wings.
