What’s my mantis doing?

Yeah, two topics in a short amount of time, but why is Sherlock just causally laying down on my finger??? I’ve never seen either do this before. A couple minutes later, he was back to running around aggressively again like he usually was. 
was he just.. sleeping? Power-napping on my finger?

If he was in the wild, he would flatten himself up against a branch or leaf to blend in. Something probably scared him and he was trying to camouflage.

I have no idea what spooked him, but I do have to say it’s some pretty cool mantis behavior to witness nonetheless : D
