What instar is this Carolina mantis at?

Found this little guy right by my house pretty sure it's a female Carolina

I don't have any experience with this species, but I would guess it's at least L3, but probably L4. I am new to mantids so don't take my guess as truth.

I have 3 adult carolinas that I grew from L2s and I agree with Aquaticcreature.

I think it is an L4. I also think its a female. But you would have to count the abdomen to be sure.

It had like 5 or 6 segments.

 I would second this due to the green color of the mantis. All the male Carolinas I have ever seen are brown with green legs. When the mantis has uniform green or uniform brown between legs and body, you have a female on your hands!
