I don't often encounter wild mantids, but I saw this one on the wall right outside of my front door as I was leaving for work.

I love the wings on this little one. Anyone know which species?

It's a mantidfly. They belong to lacewings, not mantids. Great find though!

 
I think most species start out as parasites to spiders. But they are awesome. Maybe there are other species don't require parasitic childhoods.
