Do mantids sleep or have a period of rest? It seems as if they are always going and even at night, they are still going so is there ever a time a relaxation?
From what I understand, insects spend part of the day in something called torpor which is where they are very inactive, but they can snap out of it much more quickly than we can from sleep.
My female rhombodera stalli seems to be constantly at rest. I even purchased her a larger enclosure so she would have to put a little effort into hunting for crickets and flies. I guess some species are more active than others.
