I have way too many mantises and i need to get rid of them. I dont want to put them down! I want them to live their life to the fullest! any ideas?

If native, let them go. Florida is warm, no?

If exotic, place an ad in the classifieds and give them away for free and just charge for shipping.

Easy peasy.

Perhaps you can find out what the low temps in Egypt are so you can slow down their hatching rate? This species must take a break sometime during the year.

Does anyone know if M. paykulli can be refrigerated or will that kill them?

Most definitely. No point in putting them down when members here would easily cover the shipping to spare a life.... I would anyway.Edit: @PrayingMantisPets, I inboxed you good sir. =)

Im pretty sure here "putting down" any mantis or other living thing is never an option. Count me in also and id gladly cover shipping and handleing costs.

Wait I also have noticed,

While I was separating the nymphs I put them in a netted cylinder shaped cage. I would open the top Half way and on the closed side I would place a lamp. The nymphs walked towards the lamp. Once I put the lamp on the open side, most of the nymphs walked towards the open side with the light. I put the lamp back on the closed side and the nymphs once again went toward the lamp. I continuously did this until all the nymphs were separated.

Why were the nymphs attracted to the light?

Was it because they need to dry them selfs?

My nymphs do this all the time too. As some of my tiny nymph cups aren't clear I put a pen light on the screen to see in and the nymphs will chase it around the clear/screened lid. Doesn't seem to be related to drying themselves as mine have done it for over a month. My best guesses are instinct of catching other bugs at lights, like porch lights - or perhaps to get warm.

Clever :D

And if you can't sell them you give them away for cost of shipping.

Depending on species I either release or trade/sell the extras away. Sometimes when I get oothecae from my mantises and I know I will only want a couple nymphs to keep, I will trade the ootheca for the cost of shipping + cost to ship me back 1-3 of the babies once it hatches.
