where do you guys find ooths outside? i have been searching around my house under the window ledges. i have woods and a small creek behind my house so would i find them on trees and bushes. i would like to hatch it, keep a couple, and release the rest.

thanks

Well, mantids can lay ooths pretty much anywhere they can hang. I once found an ooth under the rungs of a ladder! just scout around, if youre backyard is full of bugs, there is bound to be one somewhere. Hope it helps ;)

thanks, i just got back from a 1 1/2 hr search in the woods behind my house. i checked under the window ledges, trees, siding on the house, bushes in the woods, ect. i had no luck, i think i'm going to wait for it to warm up a little bit

Check on goldenrod stems...those are usually the spots...also in weedy areas there might be some...but question, have u ever seen mantises in the area you search? (Like have u ever seen mantises in your backyard) if there aren't any mantids in your yard then most likely there aren't any ooths...but check weedy spots and overgrown areas...

Find an area with lots of weeds that are about waist high or higher. Places where in the summer there are lots of feeder insects (grasshoppers). Also, overgrown fencelines.

i have seen mantises in my area. they are big and green im not sure what species. thanks for the tips guys. i will post picks if i find any mantises or ooths. i only plan on keeping ooths and releasing mantises i find
