Which is larger... T. sinensis or T. angustipennis?

They are only slightly larger, right? By width more than anything?
i live in china and i can find both of them in most area of china, the size of mantis changed by different climate and temperature. and i find it can be a big different between mantis in two biotic communities even they are very close.

They are longer in length but it isn't much. In the field most people likely wouldn't be able to tell them apart without picking them up.

Yeah you'd have to see the dot, whether it were orange or yellow.

Also I've never seen the sinensis' colors come in in patches, unlike the angustipennis. http://natural-japan.net/photos/Tenodera_angustipennis_07.jpg I wouldn't have to hold this one to know it's angustipennis. But if both were full-green or full-brown it'd be harder.

You cannot differentiate based on color. Nearly every male mantis I see around here whether sinensis or angustipennis has that brownish-greenish color scheme.

Really? I've never seen a sinensis with brown and green in patches like that. But I believe you.
