I'd say Shield, they are a great mantid and get pretty big.

I need an adult or sub-adult male if anyone can source one

Never had any of these species, but I'd go for the shield. Nice big green (or brown) mantis. I miss my big species.

If I was to be given one of those as a free mantis, I'd probably choose the shield.

They are both nice mantids, Rhombodera being that little bit bigger (approx 3 inch) with a nice leaf shaped pronotum, always end up green as adults to the best of my knowledge.

Cilnia being a bit smaller, variable in colour, brachypterus and a much more aggressive and eager feeder.

they are both great mantids. awsome really. will take anything you put in that moves (actually, sometimes moving isnt required!), are a nice big species', and will take quite nicely to humans. I prefer rhomboderas a little bit, but i haveonly had wide arms a few weeks. Both would make a nice pet or two or three.
