Which water to use.............

What is the (type, brand, quality, etc) of water you all use for the mantis.

i use tap water that has sat for a few days...no problems so far

tap water thats been BRITA filterd . had no problems either ! 1st used normal tap water but that left limescale in the mantis tank . although the mantids were fine with just normal tap water . but now i BRITA it !

Yeah, I use Brita Filter Canister thingys because our tap water has really high (safe high) amounts of chlorine, so it tastes kinda weird .

I use the water that is collected from a dehumidifier and from the tumble dryer - apparently it's distilled (as it's collected from the air)...

Just plain tap water with a couple drops of reptisafe in it. I have a big gallon sprayer that I only have to fill up every couple weeks or so.

how come people let the water settle for a few days?

i'd have thought if you was using a sprayer that it would take the water from the bottom and so be sucking up the heavy stuff in the water, i dunno...

JOhnald, i think people are refering to settle the water in another container, let the chloride or any bad stuff (i am not a chemistry expert) go and pour the top portion of the water into the sprayer before using it.
