White Eyed Devil

This is another species of predatory katydid that is native to the USA. Although it's not as big and powerful as the Neobarrettia spinosa, the Neobarrettia victoriae is a very feisty and wild hunter that will amusingly wrestle around with it's prey and roll and kick all over the place. They also seem a bit more nervous in general.

Watching that is so strange... one could argue that it is cannibalism happening.

Nice! You can see the resemblance but shaped a little more like a classic katydid.

Yeah there is definitely a resemblance. Up close these guys actually look pretty cool as well. Although not as cool looking as the spinosa, they seem pretty wild

Females with their ovipositor are about 3 inches or a little more. Males are around 2 inches or less.

Awesome! I was just wondering if anybody kept these. I saw some really impressive spiky looking ones in central Texas.

I'd like to keep some red eyed devils. I wonder how difficult getting them to breed successfully is.
