Hi all,

I have on offer a few Idolomantis Diabolica ootheca's, Obviously as these are Wild Collected from Tanzania I can not guarantee fertility or hatch rates, How ever they are very plump and look extremely healthy also quite large.

I am based in the UK but willing to ship to the EU or abroad depending on laws and restrictions but outside the UK it is at your own risk.

I can supply photographic evidence that they are in my possession I am offering them at £65 each plus shipping costs ( £4.95 to the UK only next day special delivery if sent out of the UK then please inquire for shipping costs ) I have been informed that the nymphs at L1 (1st instar) can range from £7.50 to £15.00 dependent on the seller.

Payment only accepted via Paypal unless you have made other arrangements with me.

Reason why I'm not hatching them all out myself is simply because we do not have the room, How ever I'm keeping some back for myself to hatch out and raise.

Numbers are limited at the moment but more can be obtained from my supplier if needed.

Photo Below is of one of the oothecas.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions, there is no such thing as a stupid question.

Many Thanks

Hi, ExoticsWorld!

As I understand it, you are offering wild caught ooths, whose fertility you cannot guarantee, for >$110. Since we have never met you before, can you tell us if

your company has an internet presence? I could find no reference to it on the usual search engines.

A number of people on this forum have, in the recent past, bought w.c. ooths from "Tanzanian collectors" that failed to hatch. Is there any reason why your unguaranteed ooths should be any different?

Mantis keepers constitute a fairly small community. Have you sold fertile ooths to anyone in this or any other forum, on either side of the pond, who has publicly stated that they have hatched, in say a sellers' feedback thread?

You say in your introduction that you are "trying to breed mantids." Have you bred any yet?

I'm not sure how pix of your ooths would prove anything in this age of Photoshop, but have you had any of these ooths hatch for you, yet?

I look forward with interest to your reply.

Hi PhilinYuma,

Granted you have never met me nor heard of me on these forums before. At the moment I'm currently setting up an online store not only for Mantids but for Tarantulas, Scorpions, Centipedes and Millipedes. Regarding the search engines you wouldn't find us we advertise via word of mouth and only just started advertising online ( This way we can reach a better and wider audience ) We are not saying our ooths are any different to the ones that have already been offered for sale. Also the price for the UK market is actually quite good considering there aren't any for sale over here. If you can advise a better price that would help me a lot.

I haven't sold ooths before but I have been in the exotics industry for an extremely long time. Although I have sold large shipments of various reptiles from all over the world. We haven't bred any mantids as of yet due to waiting for them to become mature. We do how ever have in our collection a pair of Wahlbergii's as well as a pair of Orchids and several Chinese mantid which we hatched from ootheca's ( They are now at 3rd instar )

To be honest I don't actually understand what you mean regarding photoshop but I can take photos using todays paper with my username next to it. The ooths I have here are currently incubating so its just a matter of time. If I don't sell the ootheca's its not to much of a problem because I can just sell the nymphs :)

I hope that answers your questions.

:)

Just a quick update for you all.

One of my own ootheca's have hatched I have over 70+ nymphs of which I am selling 50 of.

I will be making a seperate thread for the Nymphs.
