Seeing Red!!! Well more purple actually! ‪ Praying Mantis eyes change colour in response to changing light conditions. At night they go darker, in some cases black, to allow more light to be absorbed which improves the insects night vision. Mantis also have 3 simple eyes between their antennas...

Well I woke this morning to find she had moulted again. So now she is 6th instar. I'm still shocked at how fast she is doing this. I took everyone's advice of cooling down the tank but it seems there is no stopping her lol. Pics in a few days :)

Lol now she's hanging just by her back legs, abdomen is pulsing, is she starting to molt?

Hi all, I've noticed a few times my mantis seems to hang upside sticking her legs out at one side, and then alternates to the other side? Is this normal behaviour ? Matt

hi all, I have noticed that my orchid mantis eyes keep changing colour from almost deep red/purple to sometimes all white with a hint of purple? Why is this? Is this normal? Matt
