Simple but effective fly or moth trap?

I have dogs. so during the warm summer months I just use one of those inverted mesh umbrella things designed to keep flies out. sneak up on a good group of flies and trap them. shake the "tent" thingy and they fly around, close to trap them. I pop the mash tent into a plastic bag, then into...

Ootheca laid on critter keeper cover, supposed to be outside

just CAREFULLY scrape it off with a razor and glue it somewhere semi sheltered in the garden or patio. depending on where you are misting may be helpful but not needed if it is native to your geography I love seeing wild mantids on my patio and since starting the hobby I have so many people...

    Buying pairs & trio's

2 males one female. double the ooths and worse case, one female fertilized and one to trade or sell...or just enjoy by feeding a bit less so she last longer and just feed the heck out of the fertilized girl so she gets FAT and lays chubby ooths!!! ☺

    VIOLIN ?

So I have no more mantids and the family is not keen on me keeping any more...however I may still test the waters with them if I can get my hands on a bargain priced gongy ooth or nymph pair...or maybe a sp. liniola (or better still a sp. liniola and pair or ooth of violins...the wife really...

welcome, I started with ghosts tried a few other species and ended with ghosts (plus a couple wild caught "gifts"...once friends know you are into mantid husbandry they find, capture, and gift you with more mouths to feed...lol) but really ghosts are easy to care for and breed, and fun to hold...

    How often to feed Manis

A week at most is fine, moisture or water and temperature are key but they are hardy. treat them and feed them well when you return. I once forgot about a ghost I moved to a separate enclosure after a bad molt...I thought for sure she was done for but when I looked she was fine. I let her out...

Dmina's mantid collection in progression 2014

I wish I had done this, I started off with two Ghosts and a "freebee" Sp. lineola. added some creo. pictipennis. then a sinomantis denticulata or glass mantis (which was SMALL and a jumpy little guy or gal) then a Violin mantis ( I still want to get my hands on a Gongy ooth) and a bunch more...

    Ghost mantis ooth help

more like paper type. like the lids used on fruit fly cultures for 32 oz deli cups. sold on mantisplace and mantispets. good to get a dozen or so of the deli cups and lids as you will need to spread them nymps out a bit to increase survival rates if you plan to offer a few for trade or sale and...

    Ghost mantis ooth help

time will tell, I used deli cup with mesh as the nymphs are quite small. would put down a paper towel and I like to add some raffia grass or twigs for them to climb on once they hatch. mist lightly once a week and you should be fine unless you are in a dry climate. you will need to get fruit...
