Greeting again from Scotland UK :)

Got back into the hobby recently, had no idea my old account would still be here, quite awesome :) I'm Cameron, I recognise a few names on here from before (must have been 2007-2008 or so I used to post here all the time. As you can guess by the name if you play guitar, yes, I do enjoy...

    H. grandis one side gimpy

Hey, Same thing happened to me, same species, had great grip but I think I had forgotten to spray it once or something. Anyways, after simply feeding it the wayyou are by putting cricket inside to the mouth it moulted, a couple times unsuccessful but was perfect by sub-adult hood. Cameron.

    Holiday

Going to greece in some time soon so was wondering if there's any mantis species I should look out for and what the laws are about taking specimens. I don't want to brake any laws and even still if I couldn't take a few would like to see them. Would be interesting seeing them in the wild...

New to the hobby, where to start?

Only thing I can comment on is the terrarium. The mantis would be fine in it. It's just that the size is quite large so maybe hard for the mantis to find food in the enclosure. Although I tend to take mantis out when feeding them to make sure they're eating. Cheers, Cameron.

How long to finish a mating?

Yeah, me too. The big kids always picked me last when I was smaller :( . Nice to see those mantis going well, hopefully you hatch lots of nymphs. Cheers, Cameron.

Just some random pics of mine (dial up users beware!!!!!!!!)

Well, This is the last of the mantis from last year more a less :( . At least it's still healthy, and still got a couple thistle mantis and egyptians/budwing nymphs. But unfortunately just lost my female ghost. How long do they normally live? I bought it at L4-5 last may and died just last...

    Is this real?????

YeaH, what mike said! I see from this post that this mantis is very rare in captivity but is it also very rare in it's own environment? Or is there other reasons like being hard to look after that it isn't kept in captivity? This is totally just out of interest. Since that's what I kinda like...

    Mantids not eating!

    making an orchid pink ?

If your green ghost is female then sex. I kept mine the same humidity all the time and then the male changed very little while the female went from beige to green. Cheers, Cameron.

    Ghost mantis, P. Paradoxa

Mine were layed on the roof of the container so I gently pulled them of and placed in a cricket tub by using blue-tac to attach them to top of tubs. I then in turnm placed these tubs in my gecko tank which is generally around 25 degrees celcius but cooler at night. Although with my low...

    Ghost mantis, P. Paradoxa

Yeah, my ghost ooths took a while too. I thought they were infertile but just left them and they hatched on their own. But unfortunately only hatching out about 4 mantis and one ooth just 2! And I am having a hard time caring for them. Good luck though, hopefully you do better than I did :( ...

    New tank ideas?

so the roof is wooden? Maybe best to try get a bit of the top cut out or just place mesh in there. Or if it a mantis couldn't reach the roof you can just place plants so it can shed from them. Would look great with the mantis actually on the plants too! lol. For the likes of flower mantis etc I...
