    Adult Idolo Changing Colors

Yarp, well actually mine will ignore most moths if they aren't flapping wings. They don't really show interest unless the prey appears to be flying. But when mine where younger I could trick them into others bugs.

    White Idolo

I think it would be more unuasual to see one molt into full color. But as far as i know they all come out white or light tan, and the greens and purples develop over then next few days. And congrats Mvalnez. Do you have a girly too? And after they colored in. It only took mine about 3-5...

    My Jolly Opinion

Well that is a pretty good reason to worry, But when I started looking(and boy does it take alot of looking) on the USDA site about the Plant Protection Act, which this permit 526 falls under. I really found nothing to support the illegality of mantids. Only thing I found that worried me is...

    My Jolly Opinion

yeah and sorry... I am trying to quit the cigarettes, and didnt realize I might have been needing a little nicotine fix. Yes it was orginally supposed to be a reply for the Illinois law question, and when i started the post I didnt think it was gonna turn into what it did. I just kept...

    Idolomantis Consolidated

Super sorry to hear that Chiv. I basically just fed mine until they refused more. They seem to do pretty good at knowing when enough is enough. I wonder if it might have started out as a territorial issue and the male got a little too persistent. And again I sorry for your loss

    Mantids do not feel pain

oye I just wrote a post about this in an unrelated thread. but point is I believe there is alot more studies that need to be done before this gets decided i'll try and make it short and sweet. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22266836 Might show that pain can be percieved through ways...

Parasites crawling out of live Mantis!

I think the insects feeling pain is fairly debatable. Also that post you have really proves nothing other then that insects dont have the same nervous system as people do. I honestly dont have an opinion either way on the matter but i still dont feel it is right to make that conclusion without...

    Losing my favorite girl :(

sad to hear. sounds like an infection. I hope the problem doesn't continue I have a theory but nothing to back it up. I am just wondering if she might have over fed and then possibly have an internal organ tear from the pressure, and cause internal bleeding and/or infection. Just a thought...

Help! Nymphs drying out and dying!

Yeah knowing the species would probably help. Maybe some details on how you kept the ooth prior to hatching, but it sounds like a moisture/humidity issue. Also you might wanna throw in a post in the introductions section of the forum. It seems to be appreciated.

    Idolomantis Consolidated

So i have a kinda random breeding question... It's one i have yet see and am just a wee bit concerned about their bulkier size and sometimes clumsy tendencies. So i was wondering what positions the females most often took before the male would show interest and/or pounce(examples; hanging from...

    Miniature majuscula adult female!!

So yeah i had my first Multispina female molt to adult and had the same issue. She is barely over 2 3/4 in. My male was over 3 1/2 in. Sadly tho he passed just a couple days ago. But the reason i bring this up is she took about 2 months from sub to adult. The male didnt even take 2 weeks...

Best of luck to ya Brancsikia. I Just had my male molt to adult on the 21st, and got a couple shots of him drying his wings. Last night I took him out to hang out with me while I played around on the intronet when a male chinese flew into the light he was chilling on. I let a couple males go...
