    Help Me ID WC Mantis

Yes, that's a female. And to me, it appears to be some sort of stagmomantis. Could you gently lift her wings to get a picture of her underwing? That would help a lot.

    Warning to all dog owners!

Aw, I'm sorry. :( I've never lost a dog before, because this is my first one, but I know how sad I was when I lost my hamster and my parakeet, so I can imagine what it must be like to lose a dog. Too bad they can't live forever... Cancer is such a terrible thing - I really really wish that...

How do you feel about your mantis(es)?

I get somewhat attached to them, giving them names and holding them as such, but I'm not devastated when they die or anything. Especially if it's of old age. It's sad for a few minutes, but I've had so many that I get over it pretty fast. They are my little buddies though (but I obviously...

    Warning to all dog owners!

Well, my dog and I are both doing better as of today. Lesson learned - no more chocolate in the house! Yes, it's interesting how something that isn't toxic to humans can be so bad for other animals. I thought it was just dogs, but you're right - other animals are affected too. So cat owners...

    Warning to all dog owners!

I just got my dog back from the vet hospital after she ate an entire box of holiday Belgium chocolates last night while no one was looking. Luckily she's okay now, but it was close (not to mention the huge vet bill and the fact that I'm now sick from staying up until 4 AM at the vet...) It's...

    Mantid Article On Yahoo

No, I do. :) I just thought it was a new species that could possibly be in culture soon. The experiment was very interesting though, since I always assumed that orchids were like other flower mimickers that sat on flowers for camoflage.

    Mantid Article On Yahoo

My dad sent me this link a few days ago. I got really excited when I saw "Found!" but then I saw that is was just an orchid. Oh, well.

    Fake plants

I've done stuff with fake plants before. You might want to rinse them first, if possible, in case they have any chemicals. You'd be surprised at the things that are covered in toxic chemicals. The plants might be treated something to keep the leaves stiff or something. You should be able to...
