    from my experiences ive found the really large ooths to be less productive but as mentioned depends on species ive had good and bad yields from each end of scale

    buy some fly screen off ebay,its pretty inexpensive and you can convert any aquarium lid accordingly or get a rubbermaid tub and convert that to your needs (well....your mantids)the same way :)

    just heads up

    most likely common knowledge after reading few posts i noticed some mantids were dying after being offered wild food,if you are going to offer your mantids wild food make sure you collect from sites where no insecticides/pesticides are sprayed as would be a shame losing them after spending time...

    just noticed this..i have avic avic,avic versicolour,avic purpurea,avic urticans,avic minatrix but used to keep avic kwitara and avic metallica..yeah leatas defo are on my wishlist though..amazing spiders

    i agree fully! happens alot with other bugs as well when they use 'kill boxes' for butterflies etc,makes me angry when they say 'oh this is a rare species' i think to myself well they are even rarer now

    the problem with me wasn't getting them to mate or produce viable oothecas but the one ooth i did hatch it was the case of them not being well received as say other species of mantis..i don't know whether it was the case of them seeing them as a drab mantis and wanting the bright colorful mantid...
