10 years late, but I'm planning a trip down to Madera and I was wondering if one can still expect to find unicorn mantises this late in the summer? Also, having trouble finding the Yersiniops mantis in that last picture haha

found this on my tropical milkweed, verified that it is in fact a true monarch and not a queen caterpillar(2 pairs of antennae for monarch caterpillars vs. 3 pairs for a queen)

You may want to sterilize his sticks in the oven, to kill any possible spores or mold growth. Also, make sure the cage has proper ventilation because of potential moisture build-up.
The ootheca from Tucson hatched! About a dozen yesterday, and five overnight. We've had some warm weather lately, which probably explains the early hatch. Sorry about the bad photo quality.
