    Tweaking My Ghost Enclosure

If you dont want to bother with catching flies just do like I do. Leave a light on outside and catch moths at night. Its a quick and easy way to gather free mantis food. You can also use a bug net and sweep it through the grass and bushes in your yard. I do this to collect small feeder insects...

Is There an Arthropod You DO NOT Like?

I actually used to play with spiders when I was a kid so I know what its like to handle a spider. The problem is when I was a young teen I had a spider lay eggs behind my bed. I was laying down one night when I found a bunch of crab spiders in my bed. Ever since that spiders have made my skin crawl.

    Hello from MI

Hi, and welcome to the community! If your wanting a large mantis with a "classic" look then Chinese mantids are a fantastic species! They are fun and easy to handle, will eat anything, and best of all you can get one for free just by looking around outside. If you want something more exotic then...

Is There an Arthropod You DO NOT Like?

Most people have a hard time believing that with my deep love for insects that I am horribly scared of spiders. I know that most of them are totaly harmless and that the few spiders in America that can bite people still arent a huge danger but still they make my skin crawl! (There is a story to...

The Launch of Atlantis: The End of an Era

While its true space capsules may be safer and possibly cheaper you cant haul payloads meaning that any kind of cargo has to go up on its own rocket. You also cant do space walks from a capsule so that means that from now on we cant fix or upgrade anything we have in orbit (save for the space...

    Substrate for Mantids

Ive been keeping mantids for three years now and have never had mold in any of my enclosures. It hold moisture well and I think it looks WAY better than moss. I also like the fact that it lays flat in the bottom of the enclosure so its a little harder for feeder insects to hide, sure they can...
