    Idolomantis

"them's the brokes" :( but also i mainly meant the ones yen sold a few months back. i think i remember reading that he sold them to around 20 people in the usa? i know probably only a few of those post on the forum, but still it would be interesting to see what became of yens first generation.

How do you measure humidity in a 32oz cup?

misinformation, i reckon. only a couple of years back (even still today, in some places) the "care sheets" for this species always said things like 85% humidity, and spraying them twice a day. i think people feeding them crickets may have something to do with it. and i guess the whole way the...

What would happen if someone released a Religiosa into the wild in the uk?

wow, i was sure our (infrequent, admittedly) snows and general winter cold would be the killer but i guess not!

heating multiple mantids living in deli cups

72F/22C is probably just fine for alot of species, but deffinitely not enough for some.

How do you measure humidity in a 32oz cup?

if you really want to know the humidity in the 32oz cups, i would say just put the hygrometer into a similar mocked-up cup, and spray it/treat it as if there was a mantis inside. i guess thats the only way of really knowing. i have a combined thermometer/hygrometer that is too bigt to fit into...

    Really need help

not as a rule, it just is usually only the males because the females are usually too heavy, but from what i have seen of tropidomantis it seems to me they never really get that heavy or fat, certainly not as much as other mantis species. they are probably small and light enough for flying to be...

How Do You Use Bee Pollen?

i guess the purpose is pretty much what you stated, to do with increasing hatch rate etc. whether it works, well that's a different question... ;)

    keeping houseflys

i use a net fully (let them fly out of their tank into the net, and then out of the net into the mantis container. same with wild caught flies/moths/bumblebees etc) as my fly tank is too big for the fridge :P <_<

heating multiple mantids living in deli cups

also think about the way heat rises, and insulation to not lose the heat you create. if you do it right you can heat a fair amount of seperate cups with just a heat mat or just one bulb, even if they are not directly on the mat/lit by the bulb.

Please help! Is this a male Ps ocellata?

to be sure you would need to look at the pronotum. if the pronotum is nearly as wide as it is long - P. occelata if the pronotum is wider than it long. - P. wahlbergii ocellata: wahlbergii:

What would happen if someone released a Religiosa into the wild in the uk?

just the one? the consequences would probably be nil. as for what would happen, with the weather we have been having the past few days in london i reckon it would do ok for a while. however it would never make it through the winter (if it even got that far which is doubtful), and as it is the...

    A basic nymph question

some people like to keep the nymphs together and let them thin the numbers until youre down to a more "managable" number. if keeping a antive species some people may release them. i think most people sell/give away the ones they dont want, that's what i would do.
