    Idolomantis Diabolica Bone Dry Molt

Idolomantis moult better at younger instars if the humidity is lower. Their skin rather cracks off instead of sliding off.

    Devils Flower mantis

    I suppose I could write one :P

    Devils Flower mantis

80-90% is completely ridiculous. They live in the hot dry grasslands of West Africa. This was the first step to replicating what they need. They breed in cycles so the nymphs grow up during the dry season, then mate during the wet season. I was probably 80% replicating the wild and 20%...

    Pseudoacanthops care?

Yeah she looks to be doing fine. It’s tricky to get Pseudacanthops to eat when they’re not in ideal conditions. However I wouldn’t let humidity drop below 80. Mine are at 80-90, and 99% at night.  Lovely images.

    Pseudoacanthops care?

'Treat her like you treat your other mantids.' is a sentence I really hoped I'd never see lmao Pseudacanthops are native to South America, mostly Peru. They require very high humidity , good ventilation and a temperature of around 24-28C in day, and 20-23 at night. This genus is part of...

    Using mantids for feeders

Isn't really necessary unless it's particularly part of a mantid's wild diet. Choeradodis for example, feed on mantids in the wild a lot, and mine take nymphs down with ease. When you have a overflow from ootheca which hatches 200+, it's a good thing to do.

    Is this true?

Feed bee pollen and honey to the flies you feed to the mantis, not directly to the mantis :)

    the gongy desert!

Now that seems a LOT better. Seems pretty perfect to me. Just gotta make sure humidity doesn’t get too high, they love it very hot and dry. Glad to see the improvements, got no issues with it now. I’m sure they’ll love it

NEVER USE A BUTTERFLY ENCLOSURE FOR IDOLOMANTIS

The claim that butterfly cages are not safe is just absurd. I’ve been breeding Idolomantis for years and on my 4th generation, ALL in butterfly cages, and never had a single issue that was causing by the enclosures.

    the gongy desert!

As amazing as this looks, this isn’t really ideal for Gongylus whatsoever. I hate being the guy when people create amazing environments and they just aren’t right for the species. Gongylus gongylodes is in the family Empusidae, which is a family of mantids that can’t climb glass or smooth...

    Hello..

Yeah definitely, although I’d rather not post my crappy phone pics. I’m gonna buy a macro lens for my big camera to really show them off. So short answer, soon!

    Hello..

There are many myths about this family. The people who try to keep them alive are usually the Chinese or the people who find them, who, without making sweeping generalisations, aren’t the best at mantis keeping. They are using collected in plastic bags and treated like for the most part. I first...
