What size enclosure may I keep an ooth to hatch

So it's okay for hatching, correct? Right when they hatch I'll seperate them in to three or four other containers. I don't really want a lot, can I release some? Since they are technically meant to be used as pest controll. I'll keep maybe 30 and we'll se who makes it out of those.

Chinese. Is cannibilaztion looked down upon in the hobby? I mean, I don't think I'll be able to get 100 seperate containers

What size enclosure may I keep an ooth to hatch

I'm thinking of buying an ooth, but how much space is necessary for these guys? Will it be normal for a couple not to make it like other inverts? Is cannibalization inavoidable?

    do mantises change colors?

I think on wikipedia I read that some mantids turned black after a forest fire to resemble the burnt background. I know wikipedia isn't always right, but still.

    Finally I got my mantid

Yes. :P Question. Most inverts I have, I feed once or every two weeks. Does this apply to mantids? It ate kind of a big cricket relative to ti's size so I'm thinking maybe I should wait longer then the usual, but don't know the usual.

    Finally I got my mantid

It's a budwing, correct? I fed it a cricket, caught it awesomely. I got the smaller of the two since it would theoretically last longer. I had a lame enclosure for it thinking it was going to come in a delicup like other inverts, but this guy came in a cool enclosure already. :P Here he...

  18. Venom

    My inverts

Yes, you're right, but I don't really "breed". And over here in Chicago there is no wild mantids that I know of. :( I have to buy them, and they cost 20 each and they will only last a few months. Compared to a scorpion that lasts a few years. Oh and I have a G.Rosea(Tarantula), Some more...
  19. Venom

    My inverts

Nope, but I want some! Scorpions are cool. I've always wanted mantids but their lifespan compared to a scorpion is bleh. Around 4-8 years for a scorpion And average for a mantid is 6 months

    Fruit Flys?

Some do, I didn't know one I went to sold them. They where in little vials around where the mealworms, nightcrawlers, superworms, waxworms, etc. where at. Very small and overpriced where I am. I bought a colony for 6 bucks from a breeder at an expo.
