    My Luna Moths

ABbuggin may I have permission to use some of your gorgeous photos as references for some artwork I would like to do? I am designing a Luna moth tattoo for myself (including other Actias species) and my photos I've taken are very limited. I will let you known which I use and for what purpose I...

    S. carolina

Sorry for the delay, my laptop's fan stopped working and it took me nearly a week to get my old PC up and running with internet. I didn't measure but she was about as long as my forefinger I want to say.. 2-2.5"?

Luna moth, Black Widow, Misc. Spiders

Thanks! Er, I completely forget..the Black Widow and other spider were taken n 2007 or 2008 I think but I'm pretty sure my ISO wasn't over 400 for either. The Luna moth looks a bit grainy so I probably flipped up to 800+ ISO because it was night and I didn't want to turn ALL my room lights on...

Found mantis, it laid eggs in my tupperware, eggs fell--?

Thanks everyone! I hope they do hatch, it's right within view of my bedroom's sliding glass door so I can keep an eye on it. I'm totally going to go mantis-hunting at some point now that I'm more aware of where to look. :D When I went hunting for bugs to feed the one I caught I managed to...

Luna moth, Black Widow, Misc. Spiders

First are my favorites..Luna moths! I have not seen a Luna moth in probably a good 5-10 years and earlier this summer I was lucky enough to have one on my screen door. My boyfriend took it in for me to photograph before we released it back into the woods. I was ridiculously excited about...

Small world! May I ask what high school? I attended Villa Madonna Academy in Villa Hills, right near the Ohio River. My family lived in Ft. Mitchell and I had an apartment in Florence for a while.

Found mantis, it laid eggs in my tupperware, eggs fell--?

Right above this is the deck next to the woods and has a huge potted plant that attracts a lot of bugs and below it is a sheltered area under the deck that leads right into the woods as well. I might replace the tack on the right because it looks like it will get in the way of hatching..perhaps...

Birmingham. I was raised in KY and since I was 19 or so I've moved around a lot, spent 2 years in North Carolina and a few weeks in Johnson City, TN before coming here. I like it here except that the winters are too mild (I miss snow) but I hope I don't move anytime soon.

Awesome, I appreciate it very much! I'll go hang them today and hopefully when winter is through I can see some baby mantis in the yard.

I hope it is OK to re-post some photos from my thread in a different section of the forum. I found a mantis in the yard and brought it inside where it laid an ooth (am I using the term properly?). I let her go because I just don't have the supplies to care for a mantis and there's no point in...

Found mantis, it laid eggs in my tupperware, eggs fell--?

Thank you! I read the "caring for/hatching ooths" thread a few times now and it seems more geared towards people raising their own so I didn't know if I could still glue it outside or what. I'll find a nice spot outside, I don't have a glue gun or money for one but I do have tacks... would it...

Found mantis, it laid eggs in my tupperware, eggs fell--?

A few days ago I found a fat green mantis and figured out it was an S. Carolina species...I think. (I'm in Alabama) I brought it in because it was chilly and put it in a tupperware...I left for a bit and came back and it was laying eggs on the lid of my container! I felt bad because I didn't...
