Putting your mantid 'down' - freeze or squish?

I myself have only ever had to put down 1 of my mantids, I chose the squish because I to felt that was the kinder option.

Is it possible they are sisters?

It's very possible they came from the same ooth. I myself have 6 double shield's that have all been raised in the exact same conditions (enclosures, food, temperature etc) and they all vary pretty substatially. They all hatched from the same ooth at the same type, 1 is sub-adult, 1 is pre-sub...

    3-Legged Molt.

A female budwing of mine molted from L4 to L5 fine and she literally only had 3 legs, she chewed one off for some unknown reason. 3 legs is stable enough to molt, it's 2 that's sketchy (I have seen it done but she ended up having a wonky raptorial because she hit the bottom of the enclosure...

    computer helpers

I prefer ASC (advanced system care) over CC cleaner, it's also free and does a few extra things CC cleaner doesn't do. (I don't use it's always-active features though)

    Ghost "wing mismolt"?

It happened to my budwing, but when she molted she broke a vessel and had 'blood' leaking into one of her wings so i figured that is why the wings didn't expand. She is still alive and well after a few months and i guess it's not a huge deal for a budwing female because they can only use theirs...

ghost molting too close to the ground?

My dead leaf mantids do that occasionally, I know they are due for a molt and they hang in a molting position very close to the ground but as soon as it's time for them to do it, they move up top or atleast further upward.

    Hierodula salomonis, the Jade mantis?

Are there any bugs I should NOT feed to Mantids?

The only things you should avoid are ants and really venomous spiders (and even the spiders is usually fine but you do run the risk of it getting a good shot in and killing your mantis), ants are small and call reinforcements. Other than that just avoid any bugs that have been near pesticides...

    Most Glutenous Mantis??

I'd have to say budwing... they have been known to literally eat themselves to death if you aren't careful with the amount of food you give them.

    Ooth second hatch

No worries hibiscus, I've got no experience with tenodera so I don't know how big the nymphs are, the only nymphs I haven't been able to feed pinhead crickets are oxy and ghost because they are tiny.

    Ooth second hatch

As for recommendations on the feeding, just start putting food in the enclosures you currently have, putting fruit flies or pinhead crickets into the enclosure, even with 24hour-old hatchlings isnt going to hurt, they will eat when they are ready and the flies and crickets have no chance of...

    Ooth second hatch

It has been pretty common for me. I had 2 taumantis sigiana ooths and 1 omomantis zebrata, the 2 taumantis started hatching at exactly the same time and combined I had about 120 nymphs, I left it for a day before moving them into a mega enclosure but I kept the ooths attached to the original...

what mantis species is the strongest?

I have to add onto agent A's observations there, I got an oxy nymph at the moment that is no bigger than the end of a q-tip and it stalked, caught, restrained and ate a roach almost 5 times its size.

    When to feed next....

Yeah, Just like davedood, I just judge by their bodies. You can tell when they are filled up and when they are getting thin. Also, depending on the species they may know not to over eat and will just threat pose/refuse to eat/run away from the food when they are full (Not budwings though :P )

    some odd foods ive used

Alot of the time I have to resort to handfeeding nymphs brine shrimp because fruit fly cultures are so sporadic. They love the stuff and as soon as I pop the toothpick in the enclosure they stalk it like they would prey. Raw meats lack a few things that mantids need but brine shrimp has most...

HELP! MANTIS IN WASHING MACHINE!! :(

I can't believe she is even alive after it, badly hurt would be a miracle after that experience. It's hard to give any hope that it could possibly survive after that ordeal, the soap would've got to it pretty thoroughly, not to mention alot of broken limbs I'm guessing
