    Phyllocrania paradoxa / ghost nymphs

My first ooth from my first pairing has hatched, so that means I'll have ghosts available. This ooth is from parents from different sources if that matters at all to you. $3 each or $5 for 4, shipping depends on your location but US only. I'll ship now or wait until they're L2, your preference.

    Ghost ooths

All laid within the past few weeks, the bloodlines are mixed if that makes a difference to you. These are the products of my first breeding attempts, so I don't want to charge for the ooths in case they're duds. Just cover shipping ($5 priority/materials) and I'll send you an ooth or two. I have...

    First Ooth

And we have an ooth! Greta the deepest-green ghost has laid her first ooth, a couple days after an evening with her male suitor. I've paired him with two other ghost girls as well and he connected with them too. I had five ladies, including one whose wings dried puffy, but her sister apparently...

    Orion off to destiny

At least you know you can always acquire more. Maybe even Orion's offspring. Maybe. Seriously though, I have enjoyed reading your posts about your bugs. Thank you for sharing.

    Big dinner for big mantis

Yum yum! There's a bumblebee that keeps trying to come into my apartment from the balcony, if he doesn't pay attention to my warnings he may end up as food for my adult membranacea. (Also lovin' the background Archer!)

    Final Molt

Congrats on raising your mantis to adulthood! Sometimes wing problems happen, and usually they don't cause any issues except in cases where it makes it harder for the male to mount for mating (if the female has "off" wings). So usually for an adult male it's not going to be an issue. Generally...

    Lethargic behavior leads to death

Yeah, there's some concern about feeding pet store crickets to mantises, not just because of mantises ending up dead, but also because crickets can injure a mantis if left in an enclosure with one--especially molting ones. Keep in mind also that many male adults won't be as interested in eating...

    Oh wow! That's very eye-catching. I'm impressed!

    They're hatching!!! :)

Dusting isn't regarded as necessary for mantids the way it is for herps. I love seeing ooths hatch! Good luck with the little ones! They probably won't be hungry for another day.

    Metallyticus violaceus hatch

^ me too! They look fantastic already.

How do I fix his leg?

One of my majuscula nymphs got a rear leg stuck in the exuvia while molting, and ended up with a bent/curved leg like so: It molted safely on the next molt and now has absolutely no problems at all. Hopefully the same will be true for yours. It might end up needing to have the awkward leg...

Tenodera sinensis Ootheca Unhatched After 4 Weeks

I'm in the same situation: I have a couple garden store T. sinensis ooths (as well as a couple WC ones) that I've had for about four weeks with no sign of hatching, so I've been wondering the same. I guess we'll both have to wait and see!

    Rainy-Day Orion

Wow, what a melancholy photo! Poor Orion. Xeno the D. lobata understands his pain.

    Help to choose a mantis

I agree with those who have said that Hierodula and Sphodromantis species would do well in conditions similar to what you kept Aluine in. I have H. majuscula myself and I really like them, there is a range of colors among my nymphs from bright green to coppery-brown, and they are active, calm...
