Hello.

I've just taken my mantis Mandy out for the first time in a couple of days, and I've noticed the tip of his left front leg(or arm) seems to be black.

It's only the foot area, though. So far it also seems to be unresponsive and unable to grip things, if I hold it gently with my fingers, he tries to jerk it away. He also eats with no problem. So that's something.

So far I can't tell if it's causing him any grief. He's grooming it fine.

What I want to know is if this is an infection, and if it is, how can I deal with it for Mandy's sake. Should I take action or should I leave it?

Thank you.

If it spreads up the tarsi any further, then i would cut it off before it spreads. More than likely the mantis will do it itself if it's that bad!

A lot of my mantids have had this before. If it spreads, do as ismart says, but otherwise it's probably just dirt or something ;) I love the name Mandy! I use that name a lot :)
