Sassy, my Lineola, decided she wanted to join me at college today...This is her in the computer lab. She's a big help when it comes to homework ;)

More like a big distraction :p She gets lots of "ooh's" and "ahh's" in lectures though!

Any of you brought your mantids anywhere?

Lol if a girl brought a mantis to class I'd propose to her  I've brought mine in for the bio department to check out, now they all call me Dr. Mantis

I bring mine to school now and then. They call me mantis man or...something. The girls always want to look and then comment about how they're "gross" <_<

I brought a bunch of them to a biology class awhile back. The idolomantis was a big hit.

I've brought them/had them delivered to work a couple of times.

I get varying reactions from "so cool" to running in terror. I kinda like to chase the latter.... I'm mean that way. :D

I brought a few to show to my daughters class. Then, they asked me to stay and show to other classes as well. :D I was pretty nervous about it because it was 4 and 5 year olds, but most of the children were respectful and seemed to like the mantids. There were a couple of boys that were terrified, but all of the girls were very brave. :p

Now, all the kids wave and greet me when I drop off and pick up my daughter. I can hear them get all excited and say things like, "Look! Estelle's mom is here, lets see if she has any animals. I have also brought an anole that would just hang out on my shirt. Most people would ask if she is real.

Yep. When I took a few into biology class during a discussion on insects at least half the class plastered themselves to the far wall and wouldn't come near me. And yet these people want to be biologists.

Thankfully mostly everyone who saw Sassy was intrigued, only a few were brave enough to hold her though!

That's funny how some of you have gotten nicknames like Mantis Man and Mr. Mantis :p

I bring mine to laboratory each day. They sit on my desk, and then when it's feeding time each day at 3 pm, myself and 4 others go into the conference to watch my mantids eat.
