I live in Nevada and am looking into purchasing a scolopendra polymorpha. When I went to the pet store and casually asked about centipedes, some young kid told me I'd need a permit because they're venomous. I was just wondering if there were any legal issues with owning a centipede, because I cannot find any information on this.

Thanks.

There's probably nothing that's totally legal in the USA. Pet shops are notoriously good at handing out bad information but it's possible you live in a city or state where some beaurocracy regulates even harmless nonvenemous under some law (harmless meaning reactions are minimal and humans have never had allergic reactions). However, Scolopendra polymorpha is native to Nevada so you ought to be okay.
