There's a phenomena that I've honestly never paid attention to, but I'm wondering if anyone has noticed their females NOT EATING before laying an ooth...? I've seen them do the wandering thing, but never noticed if they avoided food. I kind of suspect they do...

Anyone...?

Yes of course. I've seen them stop eating days in advance. All very normal.

Along with the whole looking like they're going to explode thing, that's the other that always tips me off. I have one female that doesn't get spastic at all, so the not eating is the only way I know!

I kinda thought so. They seem to have a cooldown time, too. After laying, they kinda chill for a day, then back to gorging!

Yep, some of them do. I've noticed that mines eat whenever, even when they are ready to have their ooth. (eat...couple hours later...oothecae)

My experience with europeans was that the ooth laying would usually be the same night as feeding. And they would be ready to eat the next day.
