Hey ive just started trying to mate my chinese mantids. The male seems into it but every time he tries to hop on the female tries to get away. Is this what is supposed to happen or is the female just not ready quite yet?

If she is not ready to mate, you are lucky she has not attacked your male yet.

Is she well fed?Is the enclosure big enough?

When calling the female should lightly raise her wings and bend her abdomen down a little.

Funny, this behavior you are describing reminds me of my last girlfriend.... :p

haha ya the enclosure is big enough and i give her all she can eat. One other thing. After her last shed her wings didnt harden in a natural way. They are sort of raised and all over the place. Will they get in the way?

Yes those twisted wings are common to Tenodera. Not a problem at all.

You can increase the temperature a little bit.

I think it is just a matter of time.

You sure they are both male and female?
