Hello from Fresno

hey there im Matthew and i live in Fresno, CA the other night i helped clear a bunch of spider webs off a praying mantis i noticed above my door, and today i found her again hunting down some spiders, i was always interested in them as a kid but this has pretty much re sparked my interest in mantids now and i ordered my first budwing mantis nymph!

now iI think this is a california mantis

can anyone confirm??

O and i was pleasantly surprised to find her on my wall laying her egg sack on my wall on my front porch right now!

Welcome. Looks like an Iris oratoria you found. Does the ooth laid resemble something like a thorn? Do the inner wings have a black spot? Enjoy your new hobby.

the ooth is alot smaller then ive seen before, ill try and get a picture after work. and it didnt open its wing to me. it was super calm the whole time
