Hi guys! Just got a gorgeous new orchid mantis (from Vlodek) and can’t resist showing him off!  He lives in a little terrarium with real orchids.  I’m stoked to have him and to join the community here!   I teach biology and I have always been fascinated by mantids.

Welcome to the forum. :)   Aww, so glad you could get the mantis you wanted and the terrarium looks pretty cool!  One thought might be to add more mesh, particularly fiberglass instead of aluminum, to offer more gripping surfaces, which are especially important for successful molts.

Have fun!

Thank you kindly.  I will look into it.

Welcome to the forum! I am getting an Orchid ootheca tomorrow and I could not be more excited! I agree that you should get more mesh for your enclosures. I would suggest toole, as it is very cheap, easy to work with, and has perfect mesh for molting.
