the best stuff for mantids, just make sure the feeder insects are being captured in a place free of pesticides

Yes of course. During the warm months that is what I do. Just make sure you're getting them from somewhere that has not had any pesticides sprayed.

If you've just got a few older nymphs or adult mantids sure, otherwise you'd be spending way more time than necessary.
