I've been keeping my 7 Ghost Mantis in the Tupperware case for now until summer. The mantis have been living quite well with each other until this morning when I found my sub-adult female being eaten by another sub-adult female!!! I've been dumping houseflies in there like no tomorrow so they are always plumpy.I knew it was a risk but she was so close to being an adult :<. Not a good way to begin the day.

Sorry for your loss. I've had Ghosts and Violins eat their own kind too.

Oh!

At subadult, you'd have to keep lots of food in there! Flies are a lot of effort for a subadult ghosts kept communally. I'd use at least some crix in that situation to fill them up faster.

Sorry about the loss... :( Please keep us updated on your colony :)

i'll definitely try that out, thanks for the good advice!

Bummer - quick question - how big a container are they in? Room is also a factor in canabalism, at least so I have read.

I had seven ghosts living communally in a 2 gallon hexagonal fish tank. Now six, but not due to being eatern. One of the males just dropped dead on me the other day, no explanation, no note, nuttin.
