The last photo made me chuckle a little because it looks like if he/she'd snare and then stare. LOL. Maybe he would say "I eat waxworms for breakfast. Rwar!"

What a beauty! :)

I like the last picture in the first post, and nice green ghost, I cant wait till my L4 green ghost gets a little bigger so I can get some nice pics :D

Did your female Ghost recently molt to an adult? Both of my adult females are green. One of them had tan wings like your but now they are more green.

I've fed my female Rhombos waxworms now and then, and they seem to love them. But I fed one to one of my female p wahlbergii, and her poop stunk really bad for a week, and she hasn't eaten for almost two weeks. Tonight she is laying an ooth. I hope she gets her appetite back.

I liked the color combination and thought it would make it easier to tell my females apart, but then they turned more green. I can still tell them apart though.

Have you fed waxworms to other species?

Yeah, most of my mantids will eat wax worms (even dumonti, which is funny, because the wax worm is huge for them). They love wax moths even more.

Will you be able to mate your beautiful green Ghostie? Are your H. majuscula a breedable pair. I have a pair and have not been successful yet. Nice pics, thanks for posting them.

This is a cool species. A little shy at times but otherwise very friendly.

I just bred my pair 2 days ago. I had been trying for a few weeks but the male was showing little interest in mounting. He would watch the female and get close but make no moves. Then Tuesday I had them on the sofa watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and he finally made his move. Needless to say, they missed the end of the movie. They stayed connected for about 12 hours.

I would guess this species needs a full month as adult before becoming receptive. Any attempts before that are just risking the male.

lol on the remote... hot

I put a bunch of wax worms in a container with some holes or ventilation. i mix bran and honey for them to eat and put a little wax paper in for them to crawl or fly onto. they don't even eat once they are adult (they just become lunch). the moths are really ugly and well-camouflaged.

and I only have one ghost but 2 pair of H. majuscula.

Pretty cool to see these guys grown up & mating. Makes me excited for mine more so.

Henry, you say a month after the last molt to try mating?

I am glad you mentioned that. I have a few pair of subs (both sexes) and was thinking

about mating them.

Is there anything else unusual you have noticed about majescula I should know?

I wish I could find good, detailed care sheets on this and other species.

Like, how come I keep killing every shield (stalli) nymph I get?????

I have hurt my brain tring to figure it out!!!

They do not die in molt, they simply drop dead!!!
