I only have 3 adult female (wild caught) Stagmomantis carolina girls left... two browns and one green. Here are some pics of them. :) Still experimenting with my new macro lens. Sheesh... what a small range that's "in focus!" I end up trying to get them to stand sideways, with as much as their body length the same distance from me. B)

PS... I think they look better viewing at full size

Katnapper,

I don't know how deep you are into photography so this may be totally redundant to you. If you want a larger range in focus, or more "depth of field", make sure to use the smallest aperture (largest f-stop) that you can. Some lenses lose some optical quality if you stop them down all the way. The same is true if you open them up all the way. But, with high magnification macro photos, sometimes more depth of field is more import than image quality.

Nice pictures, by the way!

Have fun!

Scott

Thank you, Scott, for the tip! I'm toenail deep in figuring out my digital SLR. I've really only used the autofocus mode, as the couple of times I tried to do things myself or look up instructions and tips on focusing, it was all too much to comprehend and try to apply. Maybe one of these days I'll look into taking a photography class. Just couldn't seem to make sense of the tutorials I found online, and gave it up. Maybe trying to adjust only one thing (the aperture/f-stop) might help at this point, lol. And thank you for correlating smallest aperture/largest f-stop. I sort of remember that when I was trying to learn, but had long forgotten it! Definitely not redundant, but helpful. Thanks again! :)

You did good girl! I just got a new one myself and there are so few directions and help in the booklet it might as well be in Alienton langue. huh go figure, I cant remember how to spell langue. dear God I am losing my mind...but thats for another post ;)

Nice photography. What kind of camera and lenses are you using?
