We caught a wild female Chinese mantis last fall, and she laid a beautiful ooth for us just before she passed. My kid and I have been pretty psyched for it to hatch....

I think I may have kept it too humid for a short period (had some mold in the cage, and even on the ooth) - but Ifigured it was dead. But low and behold, it hatched yesterday.

TWO nymphs. Sheesh.

More may come so don't toss it, and you may want to seperate them after L1 as they eat each other like crazy.

Angel, I know well of their canibalistic nature....I was counting on it (what am I going to do with 300 nymphs?), but now I think I will have to be rather carefull!

I certainly won't toss it yet....maybe if nothing comes within the next two weeks.

Aha! A few more started coming out this morning! My daughters and I actually got to see them wiggling out of the ooth, and hanging there trying to get out of that membrane!

SO FREAKING COOL! :) :D
