I have a few ghosts coming soon, and I'm asking you guys if a temp of 21-22 C is okay for them.

The reason why I'm having some problems getting it a little higher is because the enclosure is in my room (in the basement, cooler than upstairs) and the compact top I have on the exo terra terrarium I've bought for them only supports a 26W bulb. The heat radiating from it isn't significant at all.

To increase the heat I bought a exo terra heat mat for the substrate yesterday, hoping it would raise the heat by a couple of degrees. But according to the thermometer, the temperature is a steady 22 degrees. MY goal was to hit around 25 degrees, but I'm looking for suggestions on how to do that.

I don't believe a regular incandescent heat lamp would fit on the top of the cage, as the compact top light takes up half of the space available.

If any of you are wondering , the terrarium I'm using is the Exo-terra mini (tall) terrarium. (It's 12'x12'x18').

If the temperature should be higher, I may just return the compact top light to the petstore and put an ordinary incandescent heat lamp on top.

Open to your suggestions! Thanks

i am using one of those and added a 40 watt desk lamp to the top. i just snaked the neck to hit the empty spot. working great!

Problem solved!

Similar to what you did Alice, I just headed to the petstore and grabbed a heat lamp that I could attach to something nearby. That way, it didn't have to sit right on the top. I have it mounted a few inches away and so far, so good. Temp is around 25 C.

Thanks!
