    Molt problems

The healthy one has been eating maybe one large fruit fly a day, but they're miomantis paykulli and they are much bigger than the mantis head, but the injured one isn't eating much, maybe one every few days since injured.

    Molt problems

Not posted in a while, but just a little update to see if I can get advice. My pair of Egyptian miomantis paykulli are still going, one very well, the other, almost half the size, and pale in comparison with little appetite, especially after the recent molt problem where they had to be held...

    Mantid shed problem/broken leg

https://anonimage.net/image/D0C7pKq1Ea Please see attached image, my mantis fell during a molt, I found her wriggling on the floor of her home so I had to delicately as possible hold it up, this has been somewhat successful as she is alive and moving around, but unfortunately the leg is...

    Fruitfly colony advice

Thanks guys. Got about 15 in already actually, might add a few more as more hatch, but might just leave it as is. Found a decent seller on eBay and got some good medium,  but I now have an excellent recipe that I will try myself next time. It baffles me how livefoodsukltd don't care about a...

    Nymph handling

Do you guys handle your nymphs every day, or every other day? I try to get them socialised well so they're tame and hopefully not so jumpy, but I don't want to stress the little guys out.

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

I just heard from the supplier, they're confident these particular nymphs were L2 when I bought them. That means the one in the photo above is only L3, the other, which I'm struggling to get a detailed shot of, must be L2 sing dog hasn't molted yet, which would explain the great difficulty...

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

Thanks. The other one is proving trickier. Little smaller, and faster. Less willing to stay still long enough.

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

A few people told me they can't tell yet because the  end segments may fuse together, but when they reach a certain instar you can tell for sure. Trouble is identifying the exact age, as one has molted, the other has not. They were simply advertised as L2/L3 and one has molted since, so one is...

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

Thank you, that's awesome. I understand that it may still change but it'll help assist in names at least. I'll try to get one of them both side by side, and another clear one of the other ones segments.

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

I'll try my best, I haven't let them loose near each other before for fear they'll freak out and attack.

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

I'll try to find a sheet of glass of something so I can get some high definition shots from underneath. There is a considerable size difference between them both

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

I was told L2/L3 when I got them, one has molted within days of arrival, the other hasn't. The larger one must have been L3 on arrival. The smaller one did molt and is still smaller. If I get some good photos, can you pinpoint exactly please?

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

    Apparently one molted before arrival.

    L4 Egyptian mantis nymph sexing

https://anonimage.net/image/oQDnd8VSAX Still possible early but getting clearly defined with every molt. I have a rough idea, but just need another rough idea to compare it to.
