    I may have an S. californica! (maybe)

    Hybrids are possible but they are usually infertile and can only occur with species in the same genus, someone has mixed Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii and Pseudocreobotra ocellata there are photos of the results.

    woo! :)

    You're really stuck on the idea of mating them again prevents low hatch rates aren't you? rofl You can read about people having hatch rates of 100s in this species, but just as people have high hatch rates some have low it's nature don't expect anything they're not controllable in this way plus...

    I've seen it a lot and don't even consider it an issue.

    What to feed a baby mantid??

    catch small insects using a net/pillowcase sweeping it over vegetation and grass then just throw them in with the mantids.

    What to feed a baby mantid??

    Depending on species fruit flies for decent sized nymphs and springtails for very, very tiny nymphs.

    using plugged cups

    I have feeder holes on some of the cups but still just open the lid gets the entire enclosure wet plus I like to let the mantid(s) walk around a bit.

    One of the Proud

    My Hierodula have a single black dot on each abdomen segment but I wouldn't really use those to sex them as the males don't have them on the last few segments.

    Nov 2009 National Geographic - Mantid pic

    I call possible setup hard to believe a Stagmomantis to take down a hummingbird though they are weak birds. ;///

    Lacewing Mantis hatching

    tbh a 'setup' is pointless with most species of mantis since you could probably just glue it to the lid of a 32 oz cup and the oothecae will still hatch fine.

    WANTED L3-L5 nymphs

    If I remember right Alalomantis coxalis was keyed out as a Sphodromantis sp. so I don't think she wants those since she's been attacked by one lol. I highly recommend Hymenopus coronatus - Orchid mantis the L2 can take house flies around L4 can take on blue bottles/green bottles. Acromantis...
